Teofimo Lopez revealed this evening on social media that his decision not to fight Devin Haney in Saudi Arabia on August 16 was that he believed that the only way he could win was to switch off Dev. According to Lopez, Haney (32-0, 15 KOS) is tight with Turki Alalshikh. So if he had gone to Riad to fight him, he would not have won unless he turned it off.
Lopez feared Haney robbery
Lopez (22-1, 13 Kos) didn’t want to give them the chance to rob him. He was also concerned that the Haney’s, even if he had won, had fought a way to sue him to take his victory away. He believes that they don’t care that they would lose. The Haney only want the money and then they will sue.
“Why give people the chance that they thought they could do something to us?” Teofimo Lopez said Social media To fight for why he decided not to agree against Devin Haney on August 16 in Riad, Saudi Arabia. “Tank talks about how he heard that Haney is his type.”
Lopez says he would do Devin a favor by fighting him against him now because his existence on the map on May 2 at Times Square in New York against Jose Ramirez is so low. You need him.
“So if Haney is his type and you want me to go like this, it is not without saying that I should lose while I’m there when I’m there?” said Teofimo. “The only way I can win is to switch it off, and that is exactly what Tank said. The only way to do the work is to switch it off and I don’t take my skills away.”
The way Haney was moving against Ramirez would not get Teofimo the chance to turn it off because he would move and keep himself all night.
Contract problems led the rejection
“Things were not made contractually. I will not go over there (Saudi Arabia) and do not know what will happen. This only helps the Haneys. The Haneys do not care (lose against him). They need the money and they will find out how to sue me.
“I grew up with a lot of different styles. This is not a box (like Haney fights). You should fight ROLY against Haney,” said Teofimo.
